Mission
The Progressive National Baptist Convention Youth Department provides a vital context in which young people will be challenged, involved, and inspired to preserve the Progressive heritage and to advance the work and witness of the Convention. To provide a safe, loving, and healthy environment for youth to experience opportunities in Evangelism, Christian Leadership, Mission, Fellowship, Scripture, and the Church. Youth will develop values, ethical norms, and a sense of Christian community that makes a difference in the world.

  • To provide programs that help youth to become grounded in their faith;
  • To provide worship experiences that help youth connect with God and one another; To provide ways for youth to develop their individual prayer and spiritual life;
  • To provide interaction with adults who model the Christian faith;
  • To provide awesome activities which create excitement and build a sense of self-worth.

INTRODUCTION TO THE PNBC YOUTH DEPARTMENT:

All youth are welcome to participate in the PNBC Youth Department Activities.

PNBC youth programs are designed to involve youth between the ages of 5 and 18. Activities included are oriented towards youth development through recreation, social life, prevention, intervention, or education. Participants are involved in sports, religion, community service, youth activism, youth service, or outdoor education. During the youth educational sessions, topics are discussed, which include youth empowerment, consumer rights, youth-led media, youth rights, and missions. The Annual Youth Explosion, which gives youth the opportunity to display their talent and abilities, is held during the PNBC Annual Session.
